Why Rooted in Less?

I started this blog because I had another blog, where I was documenting my healing journey from gastritis antral, a disease that causes inflammation in the stomach lining, which was diagnosed around 5 months ago.

As I've been sharing this journey of mine- toward curing myself through diet and other lifestyle changes, I've come to realize that at some point I'm going to heal myself fully, and that that blog wasn't enough of a reason to keep writing.

This whole path toward healing is actually wrapped in something much greater than just healing- and that's where this blog comes into place.

You see, healing from a disease is only a small part of a bigger life- an intentional life, and one that's well lived.

I elaborate on that- and more- in the other categories so all you have left to do is enjoy original posts, created from within a person who lives intentionally, and as I do that I'm learning along side you how to live a more intentional life, how to get better at it, and how to find meaning in a simple, minimalistic life- in a way that's still saves money and respects other essential aspects of minimalism, but at the same time- one that provides a nourishing and healthy life, a way that supports both mind and body, one of living and thinking that satisfies the soul, and one that makes life worth living.

I promise that in this blog, I'm going to be completely transparent and authentic with you, the readers, so that everything is based on research, and the papers are provided( so don't have to worry about that part- I add a reference to all research papers inside the posts).

Of course, I encourage you to use critical thinking while reading the posts on this blog, as it can allow you to question the things I write about here, and share any mistakes I make with me- I'm happy to hear your opinion as to where I can improve so that this blog can be a more insightful, pleasant space for all.

So stick around- I'm sure what you read here will be worth your while…

About the Auther

My name is Nathan, I’m 21 years old, and I live in New York. A couple of months ago, I was diagnosed with gastritis antral, a common disease characterized by inflammation in the lower part of the stomach. For me, it was primarily caused by chronic stress and an eating disorder.

My story begins back in elementary school.

Throughout my school years, I struggled socially and lived in constant fear of people who seemed determined to make my life a nightmare at every opportunity. Towards the end of elementary school, I was completely shunned for two weeks. From first through ninth grade, I was under perpetual stress due to relentless bullying and harassment.

However, like any challenge in life, these hardships shaped me into a stronger and more resilient person. The bullying fortified my mental toughness, and the social isolation, paradoxically, sharpened my communication skills, courage, and social abilities. More than anything, it taught me how to love and truly appreciate myself.

At 15, I was diagnosed on the autism spectrum and moved to a specialized communication class in high school. Later, I started my first job as a waiter at a coffee shop, where I faced endless bullying and harassment from others.

After a while, I began a seemingly never-ending series of medical tests for chronic abdominal pain. After six months of searching for answers, I was diagnosed with Gastritis Antral, a condition involving inflammation or lesions in the stomach lining, usually caused by chronic stress, poor diet, a weakened immune system, or long-term use of painkillers. In my case, I believe it was a combination of the first three factors.

For two months, I followed my gastroenterologist’s orders and took Nexium, but it only made things worse—causing dizziness, headaches, and more stomach pain without any relief. I realized this wasn't the right path for me and began exploring alternatives. That’s when I stumbled upon the world of alternative medicine and discovered healing methods I never knew existed.

I decided to commit fully to my recovery. I started acupuncture, drank specialized herbal teas, completely overhauled my diet, practiced meditation, and explored every natural avenue possible.

I’m still treating myself through natural methods, and while I know this journey has only just begun, I’ve already learned so much. I invite you all to join me on this path as I share the insights and experiences I gain along the way.

I promise it’ll be an interesting ride!
