In conventional medicine, H. pylori is often blamed for causing stomach ulcers and inflammation, leading to a common misconception that it is the root cause of stomach pain, even when this may not be the case. Why is this bacterium not the cause when all medical sources claim that it is?
H. pylori can coexist peacefully in the stomachs of individuals who are otherwise healthy and mentally balanced.
However, certain conditions can disrupt this balance, leading to problems.
Mental/Physical Stress
Stress is a significant factor that can throw both the body and H. pylori out of balance.
Even small, chronic stress can impact the entire system over time.
I have personally realized that my inflammation had come from the constant stress and fear I experienced, which I elaborate on in the About section.
Diet
Another important factor that often triggers inflammation is diet.
I recall consuming a lot of processed sugars, gluten, dairy, and various other inflammatory foods during my school years.
After school, I frequently went to the grocery store with my brother to buy sweet treats, which we enjoyed eating at a nearby park. It was like a weekly activity for us to hang out together.
While I liked eating nuts and legumes, such as chickpeas, I didn't realize how negatively they were affecting my digestive system at the time.
I also remember that I rarely chewed my food properly, especially in the last few years when I was trying to gain weight while exercising.
I often pushed myself to eat large quantities of food quickly and under pressure, which led to constant bloating and discomfort.
I now recognize that my struggles with body image were one of the root causes of my overeating, contributing to the imbalance and inflammation in my stomach.
I have identified that I am allergic to gluten and dates/date syrup. Although my medical tests suggest that I don’t have a gluten allergy, gluten irritates me because it doesn't break down entirely in the digestive system and can trigger immune reactions in susceptible individuals, like myself.
The antrum is where food is held and mixed with stomach acid before it's emptied into the small intestine for further digestion, so it burns more if there are allergens I'm sensitive to sitting there for a while.
Regarding dates, I often found myself in painful situations after overeating, especially when craving combinations like yellow goat cheese with date syrup, I know, weird- but that’s what happens when I have a crisis- I grab any food I can get my hands on, which sometimes results in unusual combinations.
The tingling and burning sensation in my mouth indicated an allergic reaction, leading me to avoid such foods to prevent pain.
If anyone experiences a similar reaction, they should consider reducing or eliminating these foods from their diet if they care about reducing that feeling by changing their behavior/habits.
Low Stomach Acid
Another reason H. pylori can become problematic is a lack of stomach acid.
As we age, the stomach's ability to produce acid declines, increasing the risk of infection. Again, it’s an imbalance in the stomach that causes bacteria to start attacking its environment (the stomach lining).
A weakened immune system
Can also contribute to this imbalance.
Through these life lessons, I've learned that to avoid chronic pain and achieve complete healing—body, mind, and soul—I need to transform my internal imbalance into balance.
involves managing my stress through everyday choices and avoiding people, situations, and activities that heighten it.
I also practice mindfulness and meditation to ease unavoidable stress.
Additionally, I’m focusing on strengthening my stomach lining with a diet tailored to my specific needs and sensitivities, along with taking the right supplements.
I aim to promote healthy digestion by following dietary guidelines, such as chewing thoroughly, eating slowly, and maintaining calm during meals.
When I implement these practices into my routine, I believe that even without taking numerous antibiotics—which may have disrupted my intestinal flora, a process that can take up to 12 weeks to restore—Helicobacter pylori will stop causing damage, and my body will return to balance.
I would have continued to heal without eliminating H. pylori.
